What was the Tudor era?



The Tudor era was the time in British history that ranged from 1485 to 1603 and it was marked by the reign of the Tudor dynasty. Some of the most important things about the Tudor era was the renaissance, and the beginning of the British empire’s global expansion.

The Tudor era was a very transformative period in the British history that was marked by the Tudor dynasty. The Tudor monarchs brought stability and security to the country.

The Tudor also saw significant economic growth, an expansion of trades, commerce, and industry.

During the Tudor era there were five Monarch reigns, starting with Henry the seventh who is remembered for restoring the royal finances. King Henry the eighth whom remains the most iconic monarch in British history. Edward the sixth, who became king at the age of nine, he was very intelligent and kept detailed diaries during his reign. Queen Mary the first, and Queen Elizabeth the first, who was the last Tudor monarch, she is known for being very intelligent and was fluent in six languages.

There were also some very interesting artists in the Tudor era.



Like Hans Holbein the younger, who is one of the most celebrated though originally from Germany, his work has influenced from the late gothic period and the Northern renaissance.

Or Lucas De Heere, who was known for the important role for the Tudor era and Elizabethan clothing. Lucas De Heere’s art took on many forms, including manuscripts detailing landscapes, and clothing for that period.

Though these artists are so amazing there are many, many more talented artists from the Tudor era that also should be recognized, like Levina Teerlinc, and Meynnart Wewyck.

The art from the renaissance was a period of artistic growth in Europe. The art in the renaissance is known for its innovation, and realism. Some famous artists from that period are Leonardo Da Vinci, Michaelangelo, and Raphael. These artists made significant additions to the Tudor era art with art such as paintings, sculptures, and architecture, with their works often being about emotions and anatomy.

The Tudor era saw major advancements in literature, music and arts. There were many famous plays and authors. During Elizabeth the first’s reign there was a golden age with significant changed in literature, music, and theatre. With William Shakespeare, Christopher Marlowe, and Edmund Spenser being just a few playwrights and poets who emerged during this time.

What about the Tudor era fashion?



Well, men typically wore what was called doublets which are short, fitted jackets. Ruffs, and lace collars, as well as padded shoulders which emphasizes their status.

Women wore high waisted gowns with what was called farthingales which were hooped skirts, with bodices. They also wore lace collars and cuffs. While their hair was often left down and warn with profound headdresses and veils.

Both the men and woman wore jewelry, especially with pearls, stones, and gold.
