Tudor Fashion

Let's go back in time

Hey world of Monarchs it's another Tuesday which means it's time to look at clothing styles, colours and patterns of the tudor period.

The Tutdors were inspired by the french designs of this time and focused on modesty and also flattering so often tudor royal would wear a tight corset with their outfits and full gowns often or not where long sleeved.

What did Tudor woman often wear?

Tudor royal women often wore hoods such as the French hood popularised by Anne Boylen then late by Catherine Howard when she was queen.

The English hood was also a popular design choice as for everyday people their clothes were simple, often handmade.

They focused on long-lasting clothes rather than looking stylist, Shoes were made from flimsy leather.

The Tudor woman wore these to show their status and wealth, but the question is, was this a requirement? Were they wearing these headdresses because they had to or was it because they felt that they had to in a way to only show their status and weath, or was it just a thing for fashion?
